Microsoft Looks To Ride With Joy Ride

Microsoft showed off their attempt into the incremental revenue business with Joy Ride on Monday at the Microsoft E3 2009 Press Conference. Developed by BigPark, Joy Ride will be a free download with basic cars and tracks. Moving forward you will be able to add new cars, new tracks, or upgrades - with some Microsoft Points. Microsoft feels the success with Joy Ride early on. They even acquired BigPark before the game's release.

Do not dismiss the game so quickly. So far the game looks and feels great even though it is currently in alpha right now. GamerIntel had their hands on the stunt mode and race mode of the game. Stunt mode has half-pipes, turns, jumps, and boasts in which you can do tricks with friends or the Xbox lobby of the game. Race mode is self explanatory with the added features from stunt mode. The biggest question is with gamers that have the money to spend on the add-ons. Microsoft's answer is to pair up players with similar cars and add-ons. Another thing is if a player purchased a track, everyone in the group will be able to play that track regardless if everyone purchased the track. Adding avatar support, the game is worth looking at.
