What Is Old Is New With The New Super Mario Bros Wii

During the Nintendo E3 2009 press conference, New Super Mario Bros. was the first game that was announced. The game will keep a lot of the things we know and love from this Nintendo classic including coins, mushrooms, pipes, and even the flag at the end of each level. The biggest change is four player coop. Not only you will be able to play with Mario and Luigi but two other Toads as well. Yoshi will make an appearance as a support character. The Wii Remote give the game some added features as well. The new propeller suit allow players to fly with a shake of the Wii Remote. Another new power is Penguin Mario that shoots out snow balls that turn enemies into blocks of ice.

During E3, GamerIntel was able to get some game time with the game along with three other players. The game feels and plays the same as its predecessors. The four player coop can get a little insane fighting for the coins and power ups. Most of the time it did feel like you had to avoid the other players as much as you do with enemies on screen. Even though the four player coop is still fun. The biggest let down is the lack of online coop. Hopefully Nintendo will work on getting online coop added to the game before its release. Nintendo plans to have New Super Mario Bros. released this winter 2009 right before the holidays for the Nintendo Wii. [Source - Nintendo]
